Week of August 28 - Sept. 1, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary Unit # 2 (pages 28 - 34), and continuing with the discussion of The Outsiders. I do encourage all students to take notes, but, it is imperative that they listen and pay attention during these discussions.We will be reviewing the study guide, and the date for the test on the novel will be posted.

Monday: Students will have 10 minutes, in the beginning of class, to work on the Vocabulary Unit #2 (pages 28 -34). They will complete it for homework. The rest of the class will be devoted to discussing The Outsiders. I will give some indication as to the potential format of the test they will be taking after completing the novel discussions. Homework: Vocabulary Unit #2 (pages 28 - 34). Study for the quiz on Friday, Sept. 1

Tuesday: Go over the Vocabulary homework for blocks 2 and 5. Continue with The Outsiders. Homework: study for Vocabulary quiz#2 for Friday.

Wednesday: Same as above for blocks 6 and 7. Block 2 will review the vocabulary unit #2 words for the quiz on Friday. Homework: Study for the vocabulary quiz #2

Thursday: Blocks 5, 6 and 7 will review the Vocabulary words for the quiz on Friday. We will continue with the discussion of The Outsiders.  Homework: Study for the vocabulary quiz #2

Friday:  Vocabulary Quiz #2 quiz

***The projected date for the THE  OUTSIDERS'  test  is Friday September 8th! There will be no Vocabulary quiz that Friday because of Labor Day (Monday, September 4th) so, the Friday will be used for the test on The Outsiders.

This week is devoted to finishing the film, The Outsiders,  and continuing with the grammar pages 3 -7 including nouns as direct objects, indirect objects, objects of the preposition, and object complements. Students will have classwork and homework relating to these topics. There will not be a vocabulary unit this week due to an early dismissal on Friday for Yom Kippur .** I plan to meet with the students, individually, to discuss their compare / contrast essays the latter part of this week and the beginning of the next week. Week of October 2 - 6, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary # 4 (pages 51-57), and the continuation of the seven (7) uses of nouns. We have already discussed subjects, subject complements (predicate nominatives and predicate adjectives), direct and indirect objects . This week we will discuss objects of prepositions , object complements and appositives . Although we will not have school on Thursday, we will still have the regular vocabulary quiz on Friday, October 6th. We will have "A" days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday: Introduce Vocabulary #4 (pages 51 - 57) Begin the first 10minutes working on the vocabulary. This will be completed for homework. Introduce nouns used as objects of prepositions. Students will complete page 6 for a class work grade. Tuesday: Go over vocabulary homework for a homework grade. Continue with nouns as objects  complements and appositives.
