Weekly Plans for November 6 - 10, 2017

This week will be devoted to introducing adjectives ( pages 15 - 26) in the grammar workbook and working on the "finishing the story" assignment. (due Thursday, November 9th). We will also watch the movie version of   Flowers for Algernon. This film will take two class periods. There will be no vocabulary unit this week. There will be a special day of artistic programming on Friday, November 10th...no regular classes. Monday:    Introduce the adjective. Have students come up to the board and identify the adjectives in sentences, while the students at their seats do the same. The remaining time left in the class will concentrate on quiet individual work on their stories. Homework : pages 14 and 15in the grammar workbook. This will be a homework grade. Tuesday: Go over their homework. (pages 14-15). Begin the film: Flowers for Algernon. (Blocks 2 and 5). Wednesday: Same as above for blocks 6 and 7. Block 2 will finish the film. Weekly Plans for October 30 - November 3, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary # 6 (pages 65 -71), and a special assignment in honor of Halloween. There will be a special program on Monday, October 30 in conjunction with The Alliance Theater, therefore, classes will be modified. The vocabulary quiz will be on Friday, as usual. Monday: Special program in conjunction with The Alliance Theater (no regular classes). There is homework for Vocabulary. Do pages 65 - 71. This will be checked on Tuesday or Wednesday, whenever your class meets after that Monday. Tuesday : Go over the Vocabulary homework (pages 65 -71). Go over the tests on "the 7 uses of the noun" and the Flowers for Algernon test.  Begin the special assignment in honor of Halloween. This will be culminated in a writing assignment. More information will be given to students in class. (blocks 2 and 5) Wednesday: Same as Tuesday for blocks 6 and 7. Block 2 will begin writing the assignment connected to Halloween. Week of October 23 -27, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary Unit Quiz # 5, and review for the "7 Uses of the Noun" test and the Flowers for Algernon test. There will be no new vocabulary unit this week. Monday: Vocabulary Quiz #5. When the students are finished with the quiz, they will work quietly on review for either, the noun test or Flowers for Algernon test. Tuesday: Review for the "7 uses of the noun " test for Thursday, October 26th. Block 2 will have the test on Wednesday, October 25th. We will have students go to the board for practice sentences. Also, we will review Flowers for Algernon  for the test on Friday, October 27th.   I will have a tutorial on Wednesday morning @ 7:30 - 7:50 for any student who needs some last-minute "brush up" for the noun test. Wednesday: Block 2 will take the "noun" test. Block 6 and 7 will review Flowers for Algernon. Thursday:   Blocks 5, 6 and 7 will take the "noun test". Friday: All students will

Week of October 16 - 20, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary # 5 (pages 58 - 64) The quiz will be on Monday October 23 instead of the usual Friday(October 20th). Also, we will continue with our discussion on Flowers for Algernon and review of the 7 uses of the noun for a test this week or next. Monday: Begin Vocabulary #5 (pages 58 -64) for the first 10 minutes of class. Finish for homework ! Also, pages 12 and 13 (Parts A, B, C and E) in the grammar Workbook for homework Continue with the discussion of Flowers for Algernon and pass out "7 Uses of  Noun" handout to the students for review. Tuesday: Go over the vocabulary homework. Continue with "Flowers" and review the uses of the noun  homework. Have individual students come to the board to identify the nouns in each sentence while the students, seated, do them as well. Week of October 9-13, 2017

This week will be devoted to the continuation of the 7 uses of nouns with the addition of "object complements" and "appositives". Students will also receive a copy of Flowers for Algernon, our next novel, and a packet, including a reading schedule, character list and overall plot information to help students stay on task and help with their daily reading assignments.. There will be no school on Thursday (Simchat Torah/Shemini Atzeret). We will have "A" days onTuesday and Wednesday. Monday: Vocabulary quiz #4 ( This quiz was supposed to be given last Friday, but because of Sukkot, assessments were not to be given to students). Pass out copies of  Flowers for Algernon to all students, as well as, packets to help students with the daily readings. Week of October 2 - 6, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary # 4 (pages 51-57), and the continuation of the seven (7) uses of nouns. We have already discussed subjects, subject complements (predicate nominatives and predicate adjectives), direct and indirect objects . This week we will discuss objects of prepositions , object complements and appositives . Although we will not have school on Thursday, we will still have the regular vocabulary quiz on Friday, October 6th. We will have "A" days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday: Introduce Vocabulary #4 (pages 51 - 57) Begin the first 10minutes working on the vocabulary. This will be completed for homework. Introduce nouns used as objects of prepositions.
