Week of September 4 - 8, 2017

This week will be devoted to the final review of The Outsiders. Students will receive handouts containing what they will need to know for the test for Friday, September 8th, and the format for the test will be explained. There will be no vocabulary unit, this week, due to no school on Monday, September 4th. (Labor Day). Monday: No Classes (Labor Day) Tuesday: We will complete reviewing the list of 32 review questions, in addition to reviewing the characters, their roles in the story and the relationships of the major characters. The themes will be discussed, as well as, the literary term of "foreshadowing". Students will write questions they believe will be good questions if they were to create the test. Some of the students' questions may actually be used for the test. Wednesday:   Students will be put into groups to quiz and help each other prepare for the test on Friday. Week of August 28 - Sept. 1, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary Unit # 2 (pages 28 - 34), and continuing with the discussion of The Outsiders. I do encourage all students to take notes, but, it is imperative that they listen and pay attention during these discussions.We will be reviewing the study guide, and the date for the test on the novel will be posted. Monday: Students will have 10 minutes, in the beginning of class, to work on the Vocabulary Unit #2 (pages 28 -34). They will complete it for homework. The rest of the class will be devoted to discussing The Outsiders . I will give some indication as to the potential format of the test they will be taking after completing the novel discussions. Homework: Vocabulary Unit #2 (pages 28 - 34). Study for the quiz on Friday, Sept. 1 Tuesday: Go over the Vocabulary homework for blocks 2 and 5. Continue with The Outsiders. Week Of August 21 - 25, 2017

This week will be devoted to the first Unit of Vocabulary (pages 21 - 27). There will be a quiz on the words on Friday. This will be a regular weekly pattern. We will also begin the review of the summer reading requirement, The Outsiders.   Writing practice will be an ongoing exercise as we concentrate on the "recipe" for good writing. Monday : Introduce Unit 1 of Vocabulary (pages 21 - 27). The students will have 10 minutes in the beginning of class to get started on the unit and will complete ALL pages ( 21 - 27) for homework . The remaining time left of the class will be the introduction and discussion of The Outsiders. This discussion and class work on the novel will take approximately two (2)weeks to complete. It is imperative to pay attention in class and to take any notes which will help in the understanding of the class discussions. Week of August 14 - 18, 2017

Welcome Back Everyone!!!! This first week is devoted to information, directions and expectations for  my 7th grade Language Arts class. Although this can be somewhat overwhelming, it is important to take one day at a time and pace yourself. I promise it will all work out in the end.
