Weekly Plans for October 30 - November 3, 2017

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary # 6 (pages 65 -71), and a special assignment in honor of Halloween. There will be a special program on Monday, October 30 in conjunction with The Alliance Theater, therefore, classes will be modified. The vocabulary quiz will be on Friday, as usual.

Monday: Special program in conjunction with The Alliance Theater (no regular classes). There is homework for Vocabulary. Do pages 65 - 71. This will be checked on Tuesday or Wednesday, whenever your class meets after that Monday.

Tuesday: Go over the Vocabulary homework (pages 65 -71). Go over the tests on "the 7 uses of the noun" and the Flowers for Algernon test.  Begin the special assignment in honor of Halloween. This will be culminated in a writing assignment. More information will be given to students in class. (blocks 2 and 5)

Wednesday: Same as Tuesday for blocks 6 and 7. Block 2 will begin writing the assignment connected to Halloween. Block 2 will also review vocabulary for the quiz on Friday. Any remaining class time, their students will work on their "stories".

Thursday: Review for the vocabulary quiz on Friday. Continue working on the writing assignment in class.

Friday: Vocabulary # 6 Quiz. If there is time, the students will work on their writing assignment.

This entire week, students will work on their writing assignment in class whenever they have time. There will be specific time given, in class, to work on this, as well.
***The due date for this assignment is Friday, November 10th.

This week will be devoted to Vocabulary Unit 3 quiz, and the film "The Outsiders". Due to Rosh Hashanah, this week will be abbreviated. The compare / contrast essay will also be due, as well. Monday: Due to last week's schedule being affected by Hurricane Irma, the Vocabulary quiz # 3 will be given today instead of last Friday.  Students will hand in their compare / contrast essays today. Tuesday: Begin watching the film "The Outsiders". We will finish the film when we return from Rosh Hashanah holiday. Wednesday: Today will be an abbreviated day (students are dismissed at noon). There will be a special program, celebrating Rosh Hashanah. (No regular classes) Thursday: School Closed (Rosh Hashanah) Friday: School Closed (Rosh Hashanah)

Week of August 14 - 18, 2017

Welcome Back Everyone!!!! This first week is devoted to information, directions and expectations for  my 7th grade Language Arts class. Although this can be somewhat overwhelming, it is important to take one day at a time and pace yourself. I promise it will all work out in the end. Communication is very important and I urge you to check the blog regularly in order to stay on task with the classwork and the assignments. Monday: This day will basically be a day of orientation. Week Of August 21 - 25, 2017

This week will be devoted to the first Unit of Vocabulary (pages 21 - 27). There will be a quiz on the words on Friday. This will be a regular weekly pattern. We will also begin the review of the summer reading requirement, The Outsiders.   Writing practice will be an ongoing exercise as we concentrate on the "recipe" for good writing. Monday : Introduce Unit 1 of Vocabulary (pages 21 - 27). The students will have 10 minutes in the beginning of class to get started on the unit and will complete ALL pages ( 21 - 27) for homework . The remaining time left of the class will be the introduction and discussion of The Outsiders. This discussion and class work on the novel will take approximately two (2)weeks to complete. It is imperative to pay attention in class and to take any notes which will help in the understanding of the class discussions.
